Does Generative AI in Search mean the death of SEO?

Probably not.

But Search marketers will have to think about SEO in a very different way and content marketers will definitely have to adapt.

On August 13th, 2023 Google's Search Generative has been opened to everyone with a Gmail account within (The United States only) and will most probably be opened to everyone in the US within the next couple of days/weeks.

Chatbots are changing Search forever.

During Alphabet 2023 Q.2 Earning Calls, Sundar Pichai was asked about the timing for more broadly integrating generative AI into Search.

His answer was crystal clear:

"We've constantly been bringing in AI innovations into Search for the past few years. [SGE] is the next step in the journey. But it is a big change. [...] It really gives us a chance to not always be constrained in the way Search was working before, allowing us to think outside the box. [...] So you will see us continue to bring it to more and more users, and over time, this will just be how Search works".
